In this post I will look at a cooling down and static stretching routine. After a workout I will often get clients to cool down on a piece of cardio equipment such as a bike or cross-trainer, spending a few minutes working at a low intensity to help lower their heart rate. If this equipment is not available to you then spend a few minutes walking around to help to reduce your heart rate. As you are doing this you can be stretching your upper body using the stretches shown in the video. Once the upper body is done we move down onto the floor to stretch the lower body. The stretches shown in the video target the lower back, hamstrings and glutes. The type of stretching routine used will depend on what muscles groups have been worked during the session or whether the client has particular tight muscles.
