Results personal training studio is expanding with a brand new PT room and a new female trainer. To celebrate this we are holding an open morning at our studio in Derby on Saturday August 31st that will involve free classes, fitness challenges and more. As part of this open morning I will be running a brand new BURN workout entitled “High Intensity”. If you can’t make it down to the studio then the workout will be available on DVD alongside the previous BURN releases. Details of the new bodyweight workout are detailed below.
BURN “High Intensity” once again follows the same principle as previous BURN workouts with you working through 42 bodyweight exercises. As with BURN 3 you will follow a circuit type formula, so that you will be doing a mixture of core, conditioning and aerobic type exercises. The main difference with this release is that the workout follows more of a high intensity interval training type structure. After completing 12 warm up exercises you will then complete 3 rounds of 10 exercises. The rounds are made up of an exercise which is performed at a slow and controlled tempo where the focus is mainly on technique and getting the right muscles working to help build strength and develop definition. This is followed by a more explosive exercise where the focus is all about speed and power and the aim is to get the heart rate right, burn high number of calories and work the aerobic and anaerobic systems.
So for example for the upper body you may perform a controlled set of press ups, focusing on squeezing the chest and maintaining perfect posture and then follow it with fast punches to really tax the shoulders and challenge the heart and lungs. By alternating between the 2 types of training means that even though doing the controlled exercises won’t be easy it becomes almost like an active rest as it gives you chance to catch your breath before the nest bout of high intensity aerobic training.
