MMA Conditioning

Register of Exercise Professionals

MMA (mixed martial arts) is one of the fastest growing sports around today thanks to its exciting blend of combat disciplines such as wrestling, kickboxing and jiu-jitsu. MMA fighters are some of the fittest athletes around thanks to their conditioning training.

I am a huge fan of the sport and have previous martial arts experience myself and this is one of the reasons I started incorporating exercises and drills used by professional fighters into my circuit classes and personal training sessions.

The feedback from participants was extremely positive as was the results they achieved. Clients both male and female found the workouts enjoyable, varied, effective and very different from their normal types of workouts they performed.

Because of this I decided to put together an entire workout based around the training done by Mixed Martial Artists. From watching and talking to professional fighters and adapting exercises I did within my circuit training to make them more specific to the sport I came up with a workout that would offer people the opportunity to train like a fighter and condition their bodies like these world class athletes without ever having to fight!

I now run a one day R.E.P’s accredited workshop teaching qualified fitness professionals this exciting circuit workout and the class is now being trialled by Fitness First within their clubs in the London area. As well as this I use this workout to get my clients into fighting shape and have found it’s a great way to improve cardio fitness, lose weight, improve muscle tone and reduce stress.
